The Lacoste brand and its world renowned logo became a reality in 1933, when René Lacoste and André Gillier, seasoned entrepreneurs and owners of an apparel fabrication  company sat down to do something new and innovative. Their first successful product line was white polo shirts embroidered on the front with the picture of a green crocodile. This was the first instance  of a brand name and logo being featured on the outside of a garment. Ever since the company was founded in Paris by the Lacoste family, the designer firm has been over the winning edge of fashion especially in the trend setting domain. The company continues to remain privately held and deploys a meticulous set of processes and procedures to manufacture its product line in off shore factories located in a dozen countries around the world. These countries include Indonesia, Morocco, Italy, Rumania and Peru. The company’s primary production facilities, however, are located in Troyes.

Izod Lacoste or Lacoste Izod, which are a few variations on the  company name, also manufactures a complete line of accessories such as footwear, eyewear, leather products and clothing accessories.

Since we have no connection with the company and are writing about it only because we are genuinely impressed, we are free to share both sides of the story.
There is only one side though—all positive—perhaps because Lacoste leaves no stone unturned to insure that  everything it brings to  the global arena of fashion for children is letter perfect. After all, the fact that US Presiden Dwight Eisenhower wore a Lacoste shirt for millions to see in 1953 while playing golf is a sure shot testimony to the brand’s quality and global leadership which it preserves to this day.
